About Me

I am captivated by all aspects of the human experience and how our experiences shape who we become.

From my earliest memories, my world was shaped by my mother's battle with schizophrenia. Growing up as her primary caretaker, I found myself drawn into the intricate maze of her mind, constantly questioning the origins of her mental turmoil. Born in 1946 at the cusp of World War II's conclusion, my mother's formative years unfolded amidst the tumultuous backdrop of the Korean War. As one of eight children in a nation ravaged by conflict, I often pondered if her mental disorder was, in some way, her soul's attempt to navigate the surrounding chaos.

Beyond personal catharsis, my art extends an invitation to you, the viewer. It is both a reflection of my personal journey and, oftentimes, a commentary on broader societal issues and beckons you to delve into the profound narratives etched in clay, to question societal norms, to reevaluate your beliefs, and to immerse yourself in the vast tapestry of the human experience.

Each piece I mold is a tactile chronicle of this exploration. Through ceramics, I unearth emotions too deep for words, giving them form, texture, and substance. My use of colors and glazes create contrasts and effects that enhance the visual impact of my work.

In every curve and contour, I hope you discover hope, a call for compassion, and the indomitable spirit of survival. Through my art, I share not just my story, but the diversity and complexity of the human condition, and a reflection of our collective journey as a species.
